We always try to offer our customers that something extra special and unusual, while being affordable – the upcoming Welo Opal showcase is sure to push the bar once more.
(PRWEB UK) 23 July 2013
On Tuesday 30th July, The Jewellery Channel (TJC) will be proudly presenting exquisite stock featuring captivating Welo Opal gemstones from Ethiopia. In addition to their website offering of stunningly crafted yet affordable items, there will be an 8 hour showcase on their TV channel.
While opals from Ethiopia in North Africa have only begun to be mined recently, anthropologists confirm that Ethiopians used these gems to make tools as far back as 4,000 years BC, meaning this civilisation mined opals before any other country in the world.

The discovery of an opal deposit in an Ethiopian plateau field called Welo in 2008 has been causing a major stir in the jewellery industry, since the site produces a spectacularly bright and vibrant variety of this gemstone family.

Welo Opal displays an absolutely stunning colour play along with magnificent iridescent patterns. Its hues range from a striking fiery red (hence it is also called Ethiopian Fire Opal) to blue, effectively blending spectacular fire and ice motifs in one stone. In fact, the vast colour spectrum that these opals produce – including orange, green, yellow, turquoise and indigo – outstrip even the famous Australian opals.

In addition, this precious variety of opal has the amazing ability to absorb water which makes it turn transparent, then after releasing water it becomes opaque again. The phenomenon is known as hydrophane – it can take place within a few minutes of immersing the stone in water or removing it from water to reverse the effect. The process does not damage the stone nor affect its magnificent colour flash, it simply adds to the uniquely intriguing glamour of these glorious gems.

Opals are the zodiac stone for Aries and also the October birthstone. For those who believe in the health benefits of gems, all opals are thought to bring good luck and Fire Opal in particular helps to treat blood disorders, depression and lethargy.

The Jewellery Channel’s upcoming Ethiopian Welo Opal showcase will feature an exquisite range of outstanding items to suit every taste and budget. Just some of the tantalising stock on offer includes a stunning Necklace in Platinum Overlay Sterling Silver with no less than nine oval opals of varying sizes for just £99, a Welo Opal and Diamond Bracelet in Platinum Overlay Sterling Silver for £149, a gorgeous Bangle in Platinum Overlay Sterling Silver for only £189 and a beautiful 14K Gold, Welo Opal and Diamond Ring for a mere £699.

Not only will shoppers be given tantalising presentations of jewellery with Ethiopian Welo Opal at centre stage via TJC’s popular TV shopping channels, their website makes it easy to find the perfect item by allowing people to select their individual search criteria, such as price range, metal and item category.

Managing Director of The Jewellery Channel, Colin Wagstaffe, commented on the exciting new promotion: “We always try to offer our customers that something extra special and unusual, while being affordable – the upcoming Welo Opal showcase is sure to push the bar once more.”
