Diamonds should be forever but when it comes to protecting the contents of your home, your jewellery is often the most vulnerable of your belongings to the risks of theft, accidental damage or loss. So it only makes sense that jewellery cover comes as standard when you insure your home contents through Hiscox.
Our contents insurance policy includes cover for valuable items such as jewellery and watches, along with engagement rings and diamonds under the valuables section. There is no need to specify individual items, pairs or sets if they are valued under £15,000. Your precious items will be covered for theft or accidental loss or damage whether it happens at home or outside of the home (well, you won’t want to hide your jewellery away).
There is no need to take out separate jewellery insurance when our home contents policy does it all. And we’ll automatically cover new items you have bought or that unexpected gift for up to sixty days without affecting your premium.
Why you might need insurance for your jewellery
Your jewellery collection is probably worth more than you think
You might have recently inherited or been gifted some valuable items
Your jewellery is amongst your most vulnerable belongings
You like to wear your jewellery rather than hide it away in a safe.
How Hiscox Home Insurance cover protects your jewellery
Valuable items such as engagement rings, watches and other jewellery worth up to £15,000 each are covered as standard (as long as the total amount insured for valuables covers them) and there is no need to list these items individually
Jewellery and valuables worth more than £15,000 in total can be covered but must be listed separately
Worldwide cover for your jewellery when you take it temporarily out of your home (for no longer than 60 consecutive days)
Newly acquired jewellery is covered automatically for up to 60 days, or for longer periods at an additional premium
Loss in value is automatically covered following repair to damaged valuable items.
If the unfortunate should happen and you suffer a loss, our knowledgeable and efficient UK-based claims team will quickly be on the case. There are no forms to fill and some claims are approved within 24 hours. Quite a gem really.
There should be a clearer explanation when it comes to insurances. Many people are confused in dealing with this. There are many variations and differences in the packages of many insurance companies. Briefing is not enough, they must explain it further and use regular terms to avoid confusion.
