Chrysoprase is rare,and highly prized compared with other forms of chalcedony;it owns its attractive apple-to jade-

green colour to traces of nickel.A faint and ill-defined line in the red at 6320A can be discerned and is due to this element.This would hardly warrant inclusion here were is not useful to be able to
distinguish between true chrysoprase and the other green chalcedonies which are described below, by means of the spectroscope.There is no other easy means.
