Bolivian Fashion Wedding Gold Jewellery 10

Bolivian Clothing: Highlands and Valleys

In the departments of La Paz, Oruro and Potosí, which were conquered by the Incan Empire, typical Bolivian dress didn’t look anything like it does today. The Quechua clothing was colorful but very simple. The women used a rectangular tunic that was long and hung down to their ankles which they tied at the waist with a belt which had pointed ends that hung to one side, down to the middle of the thigh. The men also wore a rectangular tunic,

although it was shorter, and used a 'taparrabos' (a strip of cloth used to cover the backside). Both wore “ojotas” (sandals made from strips of leather). During the winter both men and women used a cape which was made out of alpaca fiber among the lower classes and vicuña fiber among the aristocratic classes. The various social classes could be told apart by the colors and fabrics used to make their clothing as well as the way in which they were decorated (with geometric, zoomorphic or anthromorphic embroidered and woven designs). Fine vicuña fiber was reserved for the wealthy while the rest of the population used alpaca, llama or cotton fabric. Lamb’s wool didn’t exist at the time as sheep were brought over by the Spanish.

To cover their heads the noble class used 'tocados' (headdresses) decorated with gold, gems and feathers and fine fleece earflaps. The lower noble classes used an embroidered chulo (woven winter cap) with earflaps as a symbol of social status, while the common classes didn’t wear head covering or hats at all. (Today Bolivian hats and hat styles still indicate which region of the country a person is from). The women didn’t use any adornment in their hair and simply parted it down the middle and tied it into a long braid that fell loosely down the back. Sometimes they covered their heads with a mantilla (shawl) or a headdress that was much simpler than what men used, and only if they were members of the nobility.

Burundi Gold Fashion Girls Jewellery 9

Fashion in Burundi is ‘Off the hook’! Did I say that? I most certainly did.

In my almost three years of living with and among Burundians, and now as a Burundian myself, I can safely say that Burundians are very fashionable people. I have read in previous articles, especially online, stories of present day Burundians wrapping themselves in cloth and walking without shoes. This pretty much summed up ‘Burundian Fashion’ for the authors of these stories. Oh, there was

also some vague mention of teenagers from the capital preferring to don tee-shirts and jeans of popular brands. Though this may be true of some, it is certainly not the whole truth. Let us consider the Madams, Messieurs and Mademoiselles who everyday meticulously prepare themselves for the formal school and work environments as well as for social gatherings. Do they don mere cloth wrapped around their bodies and go shoeless? In present day Burundi, the majority most

certainly do not. Let us therefore take a little journey into the world of Burundian fashion, paying close attention to the massive on ground (second-hand) fashion scene as it differs from traditional Burundian dress, especially for special ceremonies.

Twenty years ago next month, the disbelieving glare of the outside world was cast toward battle-torn Bosnia.

In one of the most shocking and needless acts of the Balkan conflict, the iconic Stari Most (Old Bridge) in the city of Mostar was destroyed – blown up and sent crashing into the Neretva river - by Bosnian-Croat forces.
Less than two years previous a united Yugoslavia had boasted one of Europe’s finest football teams, including both Bosnians and Croats, as well as Serbs, Slovenians and Montenegrins.
Red Star Belgrade had won the 1991 European Cup while the national side, with stars such as Dragan Stojkovic (Serbian), Robert Prosinecki (Croatian) and Dejan Savicevic (Montenegrin), had made it to the quarter-finals of Italia 90, subsequently qualifying for Euro 92 only for the outbreak of war to force their withdrawal.

War-torn: The Old Bridge in the Bosnian city of Mostar was destroyed in 1993 in one of the most shocking images of the Balkan conflict
By November, 1993, however, all talk of football had been relegated, survival a far more pressing subject amid the blood and brutality of a war which had turned family, friends and even team-mates into enemies.

Two decades on and Bosnia is readying itself once more for a gaze from far beyond their own borders, football, thankfully, the source of such attention this time.

For on Tuesday night Bosnia & Herzegovina, who played their first FIFA-recognised match in 1995, made history by booking their place at a major tournament for the first time with a 1-0 victory in Lithuania, courtesy of a goal from Veded Ibisevic.

sales manager of Rock Jewels in Dubai, said that his company witnessed fluctuating sales over the last three years. “When prices are lower, we need to buy in bulk,” he said.

To generate more sales, Rock Jewels takes advantage of new trends in the market and offer customers new designs, Mujadi said. According to him, 22 karat gold has been attracting strong demand from customers since gold prices dropped.
However, according to Nitin Daga, owner of Mahek Gold, a wholesaler in India, importing gold from the UAE is a challenge due to government restrictions. Meanwhile, “Indian banks are not providing us with enough gold; we get five to 10 kg,” Daga said, adding that in Dubai he can buy more. As a result, supplies to be made for orders of 100 kg of gold in the UAE is challenging, he said.
The Indian governmnet has placed a 15 per cent import duty on gold jewellery, from 10 per cent, in a move to curb gold imports and protect the local jewellery industry. It has said that 20 per cent

of all gold imports must be exported as jewellery. The measure has caused some delays in supplies for exporters. Gold jewellery exports declined 6.9 per cent in October compared to the previous month to $608.95 million.
The hike in import tax is unlikely to have a big impact since jewellery accounts for only a small

amount of the country’s gold imports. India’s imports of gold jewellery were valued at $137.57 million between April and July, while bullion imports in July stood at $2.9 billion.
Dubai International Jewellery Week runs from Wednesday to Saturday.

I might be a tiny bit biased but I’ve always had the opinion that India knows jewelry.  No, not just knows it, India does jewelry like no bodies business.  Pure gold mixed with dazzling jewels, no wonder Great Britain’s got some of our finest pieces locked up in the Tower of London (Kohinoor diamond anyone?).  You can’t escape the jewelry commercials on ZeeTV if you tried and it makes the most diehard anti-marriage-ists want to get married (I’ve imagined my own wedding based solely around jewelry, I won’t lie to you).  Now that you know how I feel about Indian made and inspired jewelry, try to imagine how excited I was to learn that India does an International Jewellry Week! If you said I was ecstatic, I’d say multiply that by ten.

IIJW (yeah abrevs) ran from July 31s to August 4th and featured a variety of jewelry designers from Kashi Jewelers, GIA India, and Anmol Jewelers, just to name a few.  Taking place in Mumbai, it was the second show ever and really, why am I still talking when I can be showing you pictures of drool worthy jewels?

Clothing fashions date back to the period 40,000 – 25,000 BC. The first people to live on the land of the present Azerbaijan wore clothes made from natural materials (leather, artificial fibres leaves etc).

Stone-Age weaving

The development of weaving brought changes to the clothing people wore. Already by the late Neolithic – early Eneolithic periods, the number of woven clothes had increased; rather than appropriating readymade forms from nature, people were developing their own designs. Samples of material culture obtained during archaeological excavations on Azerbaijan’s territory (stone and bone awls, needles, spinning tools made from bone and clay, leather polishers made from bone etc) prove conclusively that the art of weaving developed during the Eneolithic and Bronze Ages.

Machine weaving played an important role in further developments in the textile arts. Remnants of fabric and parts of a weaving machine found during excavations in Mingechevir show that machine weaving was present in Azerbaijan in the early Middle Ages.

With the transition to machine weaving, the production of fabric and the weaving of clothes increased, as did the number and variety of clothes. As early as the 9th century BC, the Assyrian ruler Ashurnasirpal received clothes made from wool and colour wool fabric from Manna’s Zamya province as a tax levy. At this time, linen and wool were the main weaving materials and, in later periods, they were superseded by cotton and silk.

Geiger Of Austria Fashion - The History
AlpenStyle is proud to introduce our customers to womens coats and jackets of the best, pure virgin wool, which forms the focus of the GEIGER of Austria classic fashion collection. In 1906, the founder, Barbara Geiger, developed a new fashion concept. She obtained wool from the alpine farmers; got her inspiration from traditional Tyrolean patterns and color combinations, and with a handful of workers on hand sewing machines produced her first Fashion Collection.

Then in 1926 this fashion maker turned over the business to her son Peter. Geiger Fashions became a well recognized business which stood for an independent, yet at that time definitely alpine inspired, style, and which also set the standard for remarkable quality.

The authenticity and dependability of the GEIGER fashion trademark is a characteristic that fashion minded people in 39 countries worldwide recognize and value. They appreciate this seldom found characteristic. They recognize that a GEIGER jacket is worth its price. This is because GEIGER coats are almost always the favorite piece of clothing a person owns.

Geiger coats are made of pure first-time processed new wool, boiled in mountain spring water. Coats are made by an age old process that creates felting with very special qualities. Feel the stretch, the exquisite lightness, deep rich color. What you cannot see are the rigid requirements that all Geiger fashion suppliers must adhere to - all use biodegradable materials - all must submit to constant inspection by an independent research institute.
With accolades from fashion houses worldwide, Geiger is most proud of its award for environmental awareness from its home, the State of Tyrol. We at AlpenStyle know that you too will be proud to own or give a Geiger boiled wool coat of such exceptional European quality and styling.

A Short History of Women’s Fashion – 1900 to 1969

Introduction

In 2012, Paris, New York, London and Milan are the fashion capitals, and the best fashion houses in the world are to be found there. But – apart from a brief deferral to the USA during the Second World war – it was the French who

remained almost unassailable, with names like Dior, Chanel and Givenchy that epitomize fashion by the mere utterances of their names. The language of fashion is French, and the leading fashion magazines like Vogue, founded back in 1892, and later – Elle, founded in 1945 – have set the standard for women’s fashion reviews, exposure and marketing. The dates of the Paris fashion week, London and Milan fashion weeks are still determined by the French Fashion Federation. Also it is impossible to examine fashion trends without highlighting the leading names in dress design from each era.

National dress is a kind of chronicle of the historical development and artistic creativity of the people. From ancient times it has reflected the ethnic and religious affiliation.
The mountain region occupies the most part of Caucasus and unites a variety of climate zones.

Caucasus has a mixed ethnography as well. It is home for over fifty nations and nationalities. So-called Caucasian type of men's wear has been formed under the influence of common features of work, everyday life and nature.
Every man in the Caucasus is a warrior-horseman, he is a shepherd or a husbandman. His clothes should be comfortable and reliably protect from the most difficult circumstances. Armenian costume has as many years as an ethnic group - nearly three thousand years. Since then, influenced by history and blood-thirsty muslim invaders, the traditional costume has been modified and transformed, but the basics are still unchanged.

WEAPONS AND NATIONAL COSTUME

Since ancient times weapons have existed in the Armenian national costume and have a long tradition, as their existence was connected with a special organization of Armenian army.
As you know, in the Armenian language, the word "man" (Mard) and the word "warrior" (Martik) have the same root. Each man was considered a warrior and could be called up for military service at any moment. Men, who had the right to bear weapons, should always have it with them and come to the pre-marked, gathering place at a given signal. Later on, in some regions of the country, weapons have been replaced from the national due to a conscious and deliberate policy of the invaders. At the same time, in many regions of Armenia, where the Armenian statehood was preserved, the weapon remained just a part of the everyday costume.

Armenian-warrior is depicted in this picture as described in Xenophon's "Anabasis"

National culture, ser nacional (national being), cultura rioplatense , cultura gauchesca , cultura criolla (creole culture). In Argentina the word creole often has a different
connotation than in the rest of Latin America. While in most countries the word is used to refer to the offspring of Europeans born in the Americas, in Argentina it generally connotes a person of mixed origins, European (mainly Spanish) and Native American. Many people use it as a synonym for gaucho (Argentine cowboys) and mestizo. It is also known as cultura rioplatense (River Plate culture). This is a more inclusive concept, as it refers to the culture of

Uruguayans and Argentines inhabiting the River Plate Basin region. Official conservative interpretations of the Argentine culture have often emphasized the Spanish and Catholic heritage, rooted in the early contributions made by Queen Isabel of Castille and Ferdinand of Aragon, artifices of the conquest of the Americas in the late fifteenth and early sixteenth century. Latin Americans often identify Argentines as " Ches ," a colloquial form of address for the second person, similar to the American "hey, you." This is the reason Ernesto Guevara, the Argentine-born commander of the Cuban Revolution, was called " el Che ."

The island of Antigua was explored by Christopher Columbus in 1493 and named for the Church of Santa Maria de la Antigua in Seville. Antigua was colonized by Britain in 1632; Barbuda was first colonized in 1678. Antigua and Barbuda joined the West Indies Federation in 1958. With the breakup of the federation, it became one of the West Indies Associated States in 1967, self-governing its internal affairs. Full independence was granted Nov. 1, 1981.

The Bird family has controlled the islands since Vere C. Bird founded the Antigua Labor Party in the mid-1940s. While tourism and financial services have turned the country into one of the more prosperous in the Caribbean, law enforcement officials have charged that Antigua and Barbuda is a major center of money laundering, drug trafficking, and arms smuggling. Several scandals tainted the Bird family, especially the 1995 conviction of Prime Minister Lester Bird's brother, Ivor, for cocaine smuggling. In 2000, Antigua and 35 other offshore banking centers agreed to reforms to prevent money laundering.
